The rules of the road
Terms of Service
The agreement between you and the club. Read it before you ride.
Last updated: [PLACEHOLDER: effective date]
Welcome to Sin of Angels. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are the agreement between you and CRIME Digital [CONFIRM: "CRIME Digital" is the studio's working name. No legal entity has been formed yet. Final legal entity name to be supplied before publish.] (the "Studio," "we," "us," or "our"), the maker of Sin of Angels (the "Game"), a browser-based outlaw motorcycle club strategy game available at soa-game.com and its related pages, apps, and services (together, the "Service").
Read these Terms before you play. When you create an account, sign in, or use the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. That is the deal.
1. Who Can Play (Eligibility and Age)
You must be at least [CONFIRM: minimum age, 13+ or 18+] years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
- The Game features mature themes, including fictional depictions of gang conflict, weapons, and crime. It is built for an adult and older-teen audience, not for young children.
- If we learn that we have collected information from a user below the minimum age without proper consent, we will act to remove it. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- You represent that you are not barred from using the Service under the laws of your country or any applicable sanctions or export rules.
2. Your Account
The Game is currently in a limited release and is gated behind a sign-in. To play, you sign in through [CONFIRM: sign-in provider, e.g. Google login] and create or link an account.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your login credentials private and secure.
- Give us accurate information and keep it current. Do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are.
- One person, one account, unless we say otherwise in writing. Do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your account.
- Tell us right away if you suspect your account has been accessed without your permission. Contact us at [PLACEHOLDER: legal or support contact email].
- We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts at our discretion, consistent with the Termination section below and applicable law.
3. Payment and Refunds
Sin of Angels is free to play during the current limited release. You sign in and you play, at no charge. A paid version comes later. When paid access launches, these Terms and the sign-in flow will be updated to reflect it before any purchase is required.
- During the limited release there is no charge to play. [CONFIRM: confirm the limited-release access model, e.g. open sign-in or invite-only.]
- If and when paid access launches, purchases and billing will be handled through [PLACEHOLDER: payment processor / store, e.g. Steam, Google Play, or a direct processor]. Their terms and fees may also apply to your transaction.
- Any prices will be shown before you buy and may change over time. Taxes may be added based on your location.
- Refunds will be governed by [PLACEHOLDER: refund policy and refund window, e.g. 14 days if the game has not been substantially played], and by the refund rules of the store or processor you buy through.
- Where the law gives you a mandatory right to cancel or refund, nothing in these Terms takes that right away.
- Any in-game items, currency, or content you unlock are a limited license to use inside the Game, not property you own, and they have no cash value outside the Game.
4. Playing Fair (Acceptable Use and Anti-Cheat)
The Game is a competition over turf, deals, and the top patch. Fight dirty in the fiction. Play straight in the real world. When you use the Service, you agree not to:
- Cheat, exploit bugs, or use bots, scripts, automation, memory editors, or any tool that gives you an unfair advantage or breaks normal play.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, tamper with, or attempt to access the Game's code, servers, or systems except where the law expressly allows it.
- Manipulate matchmaking or results, including collusion, win-trading, or account boosting.
- Harass, threaten, dox, or abuse other players or our team. In-character trash talk is fine. Real-world abuse is not.
- Post or transmit content that is illegal, hateful, or infringing, or that you have no right to share.
- Disrupt, overload, or attack the Service, or try to break its security or access data that is not yours.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
We may use automated and manual anti-cheat measures to protect fair play. We may investigate suspected violations and take action, including warnings, feature limits, suspension, or permanent bans, with or without notice, as appropriate.
5. Who Owns the Game (Intellectual Property)
Sin of Angels, including its name, logo, characters, art, 3D board and battles, cinematics, soundtrack, code, cards, mechanics, world, and all other content, is owned by the Studio or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. The Game and everything in it belong to us. Playing does not make it yours.
- We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and play the Game for your own non-commercial entertainment, subject to these Terms.
- You may not copy, distribute, sell, sublicense, publicly perform, modify, or make derivative works from the Game or its content except as the law allows or as we permit in writing.
- Content-creator use (streaming, videos, screenshots) is [CONFIRM: content creation / streaming policy, allowed under a separate policy? monetization terms?]. Until a content policy is published, ask us first.
- Feedback you send us about the Game may be used by us freely, without obligation to you.
- Trademarks, names, and marks that are not ours belong to their respective owners, and their appearance does not imply any affiliation.
6. The Service Is Provided As Is (Disclaimers)
We work hard on the Game, but we cannot promise perfection. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of bugs, or that any defect will be fixed.
- The Game is in active development and limited release. Features, balance, content, and availability may change, break, or be removed at any time.
- You use the Service at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
7. Limits on Our Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Studio and its owners, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or game progress, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
- Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Game in the [PLACEHOLDER: liability lookback period, e.g. 12 months] before the claim, or [PLACEHOLDER: nominal cap amount, e.g. USD 50].
- Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or willful misconduct.
8. Ending Access (Termination)
You can stop playing and close your account at any time by [PLACEHOLDER: account closure method / contact].
- We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect the Service or other players.
- Where reasonable and lawful, we will try to give notice. For serious violations such as cheating, fraud, or abuse, we may act immediately and without notice.
- On termination, your license to use the Game ends and you must stop using it. Sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law, will survive.
- Refunds on termination, if any, follow the Payment and Refunds section and applicable law.
9. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [PLACEHOLDER: governing law jurisdiction, e.g. State of California, USA], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
- Any dispute will be resolved in [PLACEHOLDER: venue / courts, or arbitration terms if used]. [CONFIRM: does the Studio want binding arbitration and a class-action waiver? Counsel decision.]
- Nothing here removes any consumer-protection right that the law of your home country gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Game grows and moves from limited release to public launch.
- When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, give notice through the Service.
- Changes take effect when posted, unless we say otherwise. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
- If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Service and, if applicable, close your account.
